| Satellite

transmit & receive signals via an artificial communications satellite.
These satellites function as an integral part of the global telecommunications
network. Satellite telephone communications are reliable because they

in the world.

phones are available for diverse needs; marine equipment & vehicular
phones are available as well as fixed site & portable systems.
Satellites are grouped into separate networks; Globalstar, Immarsat,
Magellan GPS, Motient & Iridium. These networks each contain
different amounts of satellites, use different methods & operate
with varying degrees of sophistication. |
